As I mentioned in my previous article, "Basic Concepts of Divination," the author of *Tao of Chaos* uses statistics to prove that I Ching divination is not a fabrication or coincidence. Divination is accurate because your subconscious mind tries to give you the answer to your question. According to this principle, when divining, the mind should be calm: there should be no noisy internal dialogue, no thoughts about what you are about to do, no thoughts about others, and no wishful thinking about a certain outcome. Divination should be more accurate in this state. This is because what you are thinking might be reflected in the divination result, meaning the result reflects what your mind is thinking, not the answer your subconscious mind wants to give you. In that case, the divination will be inaccurate. Furthermore, the same question should not be asked repeatedly, as this is equivalent to trying to draw a result until you are satisfied. Also, when interpreting the result, if a sudden thought pops into your mind, causing the interpreter (or you) to deviate from the standard answer, focusing on a certain word or symbol, and applying that word or symbol to real-world events, this is called "seizing the opportunity," which is also a subconscious operation. You should pay attention to this answer. In short, the process of divination and interpreting divination slips should be relaxed and effortless; don't think about it or try to force it, and it should be accurate.
